My take on the summer of ’19 is that most weekends were
windy, cloudy and cold. Not to mention it seemed to rain when we least needed
it. In other words, the short season we all look forward to was disappointing. It’s
over now. The leaves are turning and the helmets are hitting. Baseball fans are
saying magic number while wearing jeans instead of shorts.
Sue disagreed with me. Her recollection of this past summer
was completely different. She thought the weather was great. That caused me to
take a poll. I asked ten family members, all who like Sue more than me, and
they all agreed with me. I told Sue the results of the poll and she suggested I
place it in an uncomfortable place. I rejected her idea.
Recently on News and Views, we had a discussion on the
legalization of marijuana. 12 states, including the District of Columbia, have
legalized Mary J for
recreational
use. 34 states, also including the District of Columbia, have legalized it for
medical
use. In other words, many of the states are ahead of where the federal
government is going to be.
Their prisons are full of Mary J offenders. Many of whom are
convicted of using and selling small amounts of pot. The type of use and sale
that’s now legal in many states.
The problem is that it’s not. It’s just overlooked. Federal
law supersedes state law. In other words, the feds rule. So the only way pot
would be legal is if Congress or the President change the law. They haven’t.
So, the question is why does the federal government overlook
it? The answer is because they
smoke
it. If you don’t believe me, I have
evidence. I took another poll. I walked around our building and asked the first
ten people I saw if they had used pot. Nine of them said yes and one just
smiled at me.
You might say that since I work at a radio station, the
results were bound to be that. I would say that if I went to West Acres and
conducted the same poll, avoiding all those walking for exercise, you would get
the same results.
The point is that they weren’t embarrassed or shy to tell
me. When they look in the mirror, they don’t see a felon.
So my advice to you is to go outside and have one. It’s
going to be cloudy anyway.
Good riding with you.
