Paynesville, MN (KFGO) – Former Lieutenant Governor Michelle Fischbach wants to run for Congress in Minnesota’s Seventh District.
The longtime Republican state senator from Paynesville says she plans to challenge Democratic Congressman Collin Peterson in 2020.
Fischbach said in a statement, “Western Minnesota families deserve a representative who will fight for their values in Washington and support President Trump’s agenda, not the socialist agent of Nancy Pelosi, Ilhan Omar and the rest of the squad.” Peterson has been elected 15 times in the right-leaning district and chairs the powerful House Agriculture Committee.
Fischbach says many people in the district encouraged her to run.
David Hughes has also announced to seek to the Republican nomination to challenge Peterson. Hughes has challenged Peterson twice before.
