A number of media outlets have used the current Fargo School Board session to sensationalize an idea that was presented by a board member to be considered as the the group moves forward on the real world overcrowding they are seeing in schools.
During a recent session, the idea of year long school was a topic of discussion. Nothing was finalized or voted on, simply an idea heard about what FPS can do about the future of population changes the district will need to be prepared for as Fargo’s population continues to grow.
Another option discussed was the reintroduction of boundary changes. Nelson notes that a change is inevitable. More than two years of discussions have taken place and now action and accountability are on the top of the list.
Long range planning involves the next few years as well as the next decades. Nelson also mentions that not everyone will agree, but the board will do their best to listen and make a decision that promotes the highest level of education and care for the students Fargo serves.
