FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – A line of thunderstorms that drifted east across the region Monday night brought torrential rain, and high winds, prompting storm and flash flood warnings.
The heavy rain caused street flooding throughout Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo as storm drains couldn’t keep up with the run-off. There were reports of several vehicles that stalled out in the deep water.
Rainfall amounts varied. 2.14 inches was reported in the National Weather Service Automated gauge at Hector International Airport and also at KFGO. Most of that fell in about an hour span between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Hallock, in northwest Minnesota reported 4 inches of rain that fell in a 90-minute span.
The wind gusted at 70 mph near Prairie Rose, just south of Fargo. A peak gust of 60 mph was recorded at Hector Airport. Winds hit 78 mph near McvVille, North Dakota. Winds were clocked at 63 mph in Barnesville and there were numerous reports of 60 mph winds in and around Grand Forks where trees and limbs came down.
