SpaceX is due to launch their Falcon Heavy rocket tonight. Weather is 70% go and things are looking good for a successful launch. This is great news for SpaceX as they try and get a lucrative US military contract for additional payloads to carry from 2022 through 2026.
24 payloads into three different orbits means some re-lights of the engine and millions of things that could go wrong. If you think unloading a semi-truck on solid ground would be tough, imagine trying it thousands of miles away and with the whole world watching.
Peter King, CBS News Correspondent, says he will be watching the launch. Imaginations have been sparked because the payloads are not just satellites, but also items like Bill Nye’s LightSail 2 which is designed to travel across the universe with nothing but the power of the sun.
