FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO KBRF) – The former manager of the Ashby Farmers Cooperative Elevator in Ashby has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Jerry Hennessey, 56, of rural Dalton stole nearly $5.5 million from the elevator over 15 years. He spent much of the money on exotic hunting trips around the world, taxidermy, his home and credit card bills.
In federal court in Fergus Falls, a tearful Hennessey told the judge that he didn’t know what he was thinking, was extremely sorry and is broke. He was ordered to pay restitution of $6.5 million to members of the cooperative and IRS.
Hennessey ‘s attorney asked that he be allowed to serve his sentence at the Federal Prison Camp in Duluth. He was ordered to turn himself in on July 29.
