In 1985, the Coca-Cola company famously changed the recipe of Coke…and the world lost their mind. Sales and stocks tumbled, customer outrage was an international story and the company folded their new recipe – never to be tasted again.
Until now! Coke has teamed up with the third season of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” to re-issue a limited amount of New Coke. It includes the original recipe, the throwback can and everything.
The podcast includes the review of three 20s and 30s something individuals who have never tasted it before as well as one individual who had. Will they like the sweeter taste? Will it be as bad as the history books have made it out to be? The podcast above features the reviews or, more appropriately, the reactions.
ALSO! We unearthed the original King’s Food Host recipe for the famed Cheese Frenchie. Enjoy the recipe!
King’s Food Host – Cheese Frenchie
6 Slices of White Bread
6 Slices of American Cheese (must be American)
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Milk
3/4 Cup Flour
1 Tsp Salt
3 Cups Semi-Crushed Corn Flakes
Mayonnaise
A Deep Fryer (haven’t tried in air fryer, might work/might not)
Make three cheese sandwiches, spreading the mayo on both sides of the bread before adding cheese.
Combine the egg, milk, salt and flour.
Half the sandwiches and dip into mixture.
Coat the outside with the corn flakes.
Put into the fryer (suggested temp of 375 degrees) until golden brown.
