The heat has arrived…which means listeners are turning on their air conditioning. In a perfect world, it fired up on the first try. For some, unfortunately, get a nasty smell or a small trickle of cool air. Good news! Bruce Bekkerus from
A-1 Automotive
in Moorhead, MN joins It Takes Two with Amy Iler and JJ Gordon to field questions about A/C and a whole lot more.
IN THIS EPISODE:
A/C not starting up right? There are some problem areas your mechanic will check first. For instance, is the air system diverting air where it should. Could be as simple as a flap not engaging. What Bruce suggest is NOT to just assume you need to grab a kit from your local hardware store. Often times, these refill kits will gunk up the system and make a future repair MUCH more costly. Especially those labeled “leak sealing.”
Tires! Winter is finally over and some people are considering a change from snow tires to a three season option. Bruce notes that MOST all weather tires made in the last decade are great all year round – as long as the appropriate tread still exists. If it does, keep them on, but rotate on schedule to keep one side from wearing out more than another. Speaking of tire service, be sure to check the inflation. All the time. You will increase gas mileage and the length of life on those tires.
Transmission. A lot of noises and false starts can go back to transmission. Getting ahead of further damage is important when it comes to transmission. If your car is chugging at a start or is acting weird after pulling the boat to the lake – get it checked out. Driving and needling the issue will just make it worse. Get ahead of transmission issues.
