A senior prank at an Oregon high school involved several students gaining access to the locked building from the roof and then convincing a custodian to open doors. After gaining access, the students moved hundreds of desks into hallways (blocking them completely) and replaced erasers with hot dogs.
Now, the principal says, students may pay a fine of around $50 (which was determined by factoring in staff hours and costs to move furniture) and the students may not walk during their graduation ceremony.
So, did the punishment meet the crime?
We discuss in the podcast above.
The principal, in a lengthy letter to parents, detailed the warnings to students about a prank, the breach of trust and breaking and entering.
