FARGO (KFGO) – It was a record year for the Teddy Bear Posse. Midwest Radio of Fargo-Moorhead teamed up with Gate City Bank to collect more than 5,700 teddy bears that are given to children by first responders.
Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner says the toy animals are a source of comfort during stressful situations.
“If we can give them something to comfort them while we’re on scene, open up to them or have them open up to us, we can start a conversation with them, make them feel relaxed and comfortable” Jahner said. “It’s definitely a benefit.”
The teddy bears are distributed by police officers, deputies, state troopers, paramedics, firefighters and other first responders throughout North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.
