FARGO (KFGO) – The 3rd Teddy Bear Posse is underway. Gate City Bank and Midwest Radio Fargo-Moorhead are again collecting donations of new teddy bears or other stuffed animals that are provided to children in traumatic situations.
“We give these things out, these things are used,” said North Dakota Highway Patrol Capt. Bryan Niewind. “We really appreciate the support of the community,” he continued.
“I did give out a number of bears a few years ago during a crash, just happened to come across the parents here not too long ago and they said their children still have those bears yet, so I thought that was pretty cool that they remember that experience, that they remember that out of that whole ordeal,” added Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow.
“Everyday, the law enforcement and first-responders go out and they have to deal with some difficult situations and none more so than when a child is present, these teddy bears definitely provide a sense of security, maybe a distraction and maybe be something that provides some normalcy in their life,” said Gate City Bank Ex. Vice President of Retail and Lending Kim Settel.
Drop-off locations include all Gate City Bank locations, KFGO-Midwest Radio Fargo-Moorhead at 1020 25th St. S in Fargo, The North Dakota Autism Center in Fargo, Red Wing Shoes on Main Ave. in Fargo and Deek’s Pizza in West Fargo.
The drive will end with a final donation event at Gate City Bank in downtown Fargo May 14.
