WEST FARGO, N.D. (KFGO ) – A portion of the roof collapsed under the weight of snow at Trail King Industries, 2130 3rd Avenue Northwest in West Fargo’s industrial park Sunday morning.
Fire Chief Dan Fuller told KFGO News on scene that firefighters responded to an alarm indicating a sprinkler was activated. Units arriving found windows blown out of the office area, and fire coming from the flat roof. The roof over the offices caved in, shearing a gas line on the roof and causing significant damage in the area below. Firefighters were able to get the gas line shut off and quickly extinguish the fire which was burning rubber roof membrane.
Fuller says there was very little fire damage but significant damage to the offices from the pressure of the roof collapse.
He says it’s “very lucky” it happened on a Sunday when no one was in the building and there were no injuries
He says a city building inspector will to examine the collapse to determine structural damage and when it’s safe to enter and start making repairs. It did not affect the production part of the huge complex.
