Bill Lucas was last on It Takes Two in the summer of 2018 with some “Pro Tips for Garage/Yard Sale Treasure Hunts.” A frequenter of any and every sale in the area, Bill is hoping he has been staring at a treasure on his mantle for years.
Bill stopped into the studio with a red-ish, tube shaped object that definitely looks old. Turns out, this item was pulled out of a box at his grandfather’s auction house and then cared for by his mother (now in her 90s) and often was used as a vase for flowers. As Bill’s mother, lovingly referred to as Mama Luke, downsized her home – Bill was the recipient of the vase.

After some digging, he found that this was not a vase – but appears to be a type of old fashioned glass or cup. A Rembrandt painting features a man holding a chalice that looks almost exactly the same – including the gold leaf that adorns the object.
Bill now has his chance to see if this is worth anything or will just go back to being admired on a shelf. “Antiques Roadshow” announced they will be coming to Fargo in June and has awarded tickets through a lottery system to treasure hunting hopefuls across the country. On June 1st, Bill will show up with his flower vase and one other item hoping to hear “this is a unique piece, quite rare – estimated value $$$”
