notes that Amazon deciding to move on from New York City is part business, part PR and all scandal.

After a not-so-lengthy search, Amazon decided that their new secondary headquarters would be based out of BOTH Washington, D.C. and New York. The Governor of New York and the Mayor of New York City both pushed long and hard to woo Amazon and their 25,000 jobs/technology stimulus to their neck of the woods.
It worked…for a few months. City leaders, including former Mayor Bloomberg, as well as a swell of citizens all raised concerns over the subsidies that were being promised to get this new headquarters off the ground. All the drama surrounding the announcement and the $$$ New York was committing to make Long Island a home for Amazon finally became too much pressure and Amazon pulled out of the deal.
What does that mean for NYC? They lose out on the promises Amazon made…promises that might not add up. Now Amazon will seek out another city to setup shop with. Will it be Chicago? Dallas? A West Coast option? Wherever they end up, the blush is off the rose and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Amazon agree to a lower offer.
