For a mere $20, you can head down to the downtown Fargo VFW and get a derby car kit. They provide the axels, the wheels and a block of wood. After that, it’s up to your imagination! Racing strips, front heavy, shaped like a duck – whatever you can dream up.
Derby Dan joins IT2 to talk about the February 16th event that takes place at the Fargo VFW. This event includes particular races like the “Mayor’s Challenge” where local mayors duke it out (Fargo mayor Tim Mahoney is the reigning champ). Or the Commander’s Cup that is open to any past or present Commander.
This is a great opportunity for co-workers to do some team building or finally telling that one person in your family to either put up or shut up! The fun of a derby is great for any age, but this particular experience is open to folks 21+. Plenty of great businesses are sponsoring carts and the event as well as the great work being done to support the veterans in our area.
The proceeds from the derby will support the Fargo VA Volunteer Services group and will go towards buying some more of those Roller-Recliners that assist with the recovery of veterans and allow families to stay by their side.
Head down to the Fargo downtown VFW to get your kit today and start carving!
