James Anderson is one of those great Canadians who enjoys the creature comforts of our neighbor to the north. This includes his new business venture – Forged Axe Throwing – which is taking an activity that was already popular in rural areas of Canada and parts of the United States and making it a new night hang out spot in major cities.
The concept is simple. You throw axes…amongst other things! There is a wooden board with a target (including two green dots to the upper left and right of the outer circle) that you throw an axe at – hoping to win points. Leagues have sprung up and cities like Las Vegas and Miami are noting that this northern favorite is picking up steam across the country and adding venues in their cities as well.
Axes are like bowling balls. Some people like a slightly heavier axe or a freshly sharpened one. At Forged Axe Throwing, they provide everything – though some folks bring their own equipment as well. It just needs to be checked over by the officials first.
Shows like Vikings, Game of Thrones and other heavy weaponry based storylines are igniting a new passion in an old favorite. You can still see people throwing axes outside of cabins in remote areas, but the city dwellers are ready to “sharpen” their skills as well.
The FM area has been whispering about a new axe throwing spot that may be opening up in the near future. If it does, you can be certain that this recreational activity is going to take the area by storm.
