Here are the facts. When JJ was attending a meeting at Fargo North High this week, he picked up a copy of their student newspaper “The Scroll.” He flipped through the pages and read a story on Fill the Dome, local sports and then he came face to face with an image of O.J. Simpson.

The journalist who wrote this story is senior Griffin Thurston, who wasn’t even born when the OJ trial took place. In fact, the 18 year old has never known a world when OJ was a pro athlete or comedy movie star. That didn’t stop him from writing a piece detailing the court case, the misleading evidence and the colorful characters who occupied the courtroom.
Amy Iler and JJ Gordon spoke about the article during IT2 and the next day we heard from Griffon’s father – requesting the audio to hear us talk about his son on The Mighty 790. We told him that we would enjoy having a chance to bring Griffon on to program and two days later, he sat in our studios.

Griffin is a fine young man. He spoke honestly and humbly about his article. Part tongue-in-cheek and part wisdom beyond his years – he did drew a straight line from OJ to the pop culture of today by linking Robert Kardashian (one of OJs defense lawyers) and his wife/children who all but rule the internet and gossip papers. Well done, Griffin.
