SEE IT: JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the 5th installment of the dinosaur series. Just like the original sequel Jurassic Park: The Lost World, you are going to enjoy it…but about 1/2 as much as your enjoyed the original. There are plenty of heart racing moments, ethic quandries and some big budget special effects – but for the most part, those things are just filling time between chase sequences. Ted Levine shows up as a ruthless adventurer who has a pretty nasty collection of “trophies” from his hunts. It’s a worthwhile flick, but you could wait until the cheap seats if you have better things to do this summer.
STREAM IT: ANTHONY BOURDAIN: PARTS UNKNOWN
Currently streaming on Netflix, all 8 seasons of Parts Unknown, Anthony Bourdain’s travel series pairs the foodie supreme with culinary dishes from Libya to Massachusetts. Bourdain’s surly attitude and willingness to try anything make this series the closet you’ll ever come to traveling across the globe with that cool Uncle everyone had. The food will either make you drool and wish you had a ticket to Budapest or you’ll gag and be happy you can dial up pizza for delivery instead of mashed bugs in a coconut. After Bourdain’s suicide, it will be hard to watch and not wonder what was going through his mind as he stares off into a sunset or walks a crowded street – but we can all agree on one thing, this guy was the real deal. Start the series and be thankful there are 8 seasons making over 60 hours of original content.
SKIP IT: SUPERFLY (2018)
It’s a remake of the 1972 film of the same name. Like an remake that misses the mark, you are going to leave wishing you had just rented the original. Save yourself the money and the time, skip this one folks.
