Luna Fargo owner Nikki Berglund is president and founder of the Fargo Midtown Business District Association. Berglund says that she’s been gathering ideas from nearby merchants on how to attract more types of businesses and give the neighborhood an official identity.
“I want more businesses to move to this part of town. I love downtown. I spend a lot of time downtown, but it’s getting a little saturated” Berglund said. “I’ve seen in bigger cities that there are just a lot of interesting little districts and little areas where people could go out to dinner and see a show, just do a bunch of things in one area without having to go downtown.”
Berglund says some concepts being discussed include attracting more neighborhood restaurants, a farmers market, art shows and a flea market. “I just don’t think the area has been tapped into, really. There is an interest in doing things here.”
Berglund also says she would like to share ideas with neighborhood residents and churches.
The boundaries for the “Midtown” neighborhood have not been established. Berglund says it could possibly stretch to an area near 32nd Ave. S. Ultimately, she would like the neighborhood to be officially recognized by the city, much like the downtown area.’
