The name of this blog is “You Don’t Know Jack.” If you do know me, you may have noticed I love Jazz music and big band. (That’s not all I like, but, I dig that sound, man.)
I had a friend that tried out for the Buddy Rich Band. He was an excellent trumpeter. However, at his audition, he made a teeny mistake and Buddy yelled out “NEXT!” He was a perfectionist. He expected perfection from his band. He got it.
The Fargo-Moorhead kicks band is performing Friday at the Stage at Island Park.
Among the pieces this big band will perform is Buddy Rich’s version of West Side Story. I found a video with what may be Buddy’s finest drum solo ever doing West Side Story. My gawd! He can drum. Read this info from the KFGO Events calendar at

Friday, May 18, 7:30 pm, The Kicks Band of Fargo Moorhead presents their Spring Concert at the Stage at Island Park, (inside the FMCT,) 333 4th St., Fargo.
The concert is open to all ages, adults $15/students $5/10 and under free.
Featuring funk, rock and swing music of Woody Herman, John LaBarbera, Kevin Mahogany, Anita O’Day, Michael Buble, Bill Potts, abd the most requested Buddy Rich chart, “West Side Story.”
