I have a great idea, cell-phone-maker-designer-people!
It came to me during a very “Monday-after-St. Patricks-Day” conversation. Someone went to a pub crawl, a passed-out patron in the booth next to them was escorted out and then they found his cell phone. But, there was nothing they could do about it (other than access his camera and take a bunch of pictures)… so, they give it to the business and hoped he would remember where he was last.
Remember the days before our cell phones had “locks” on them? I do. When you lost your phone, there is a good chance when someone finally found it, to get in touch with you, they would call the last person you talked to … or they would use the “ICE” contact in your phone.
(I still have my “ICE” contacts… but it doesn’t do much good when you don’t know the code to get into my phone!)
In case you don’t remember, an “ICE” contact was a “In Case of Emergency” contact and you would save that person with “ICE” in front of their name in your cell phone.
So, here’s the idea!
Allow your cell phone to access an emergency contact while locked!
Since there is already an option to make an emergency call to 9-1-1 when your phone is locked, how about the ability to make an emergency call to the contact you set as well?
This wouldn’t just benefit the most drunken of our society, but also the most forgetful! And, it would allow us, at our most vulnerable times, to easily call an emergency contact without having to call 9-1-1.
So, Apple… how about it?
