WASHINGTON (KFGO) – Savanna’s Act has been approved by the Committee on Indian Affairs in the United States Senate.
The bill will now go to the Senate floor for a Vote.
Sen. Kevin Cramer says he is urging the Senate to act quickly.
First introduced by Senator Heidi Heitkamp the bill develops protocol to address missing and murdered Native Americans
The bill also needs to be passed by the house.
It is named for Savanna Greywind.
The 22-year-old pregnant member of the Spirit Lake Tribe was murdered by a neighbor in Fargo in 2017.
