Swimmer’s itch. Every lake-goers worst nightmare!
And, Dr. Jamey Jessen, Sanford Family Medicine Physician, says there is an easy want to prevent it: TOWEL DRY! Make sure to take a towel and dry off – rubbing the skin with some pressure.
Make sure when you get out of the water to dry off your skin right away!
And, if you do happen to get swimmers itch: don’t scratch! Dr. Jessen says that can lead to other skin infections.
Another interesting this about swimmers itch: If you’ve had it before, you are more likely to see it withing hours or days of getting out of the water. If you haven’t had it before, it could take longer!
