JJ Gordon and Amy Iler give you a weekly report on what you should see in the theaters, what you should stream at home or on the go and what you can straight up skip! Saving you time, money and some eye rolling. This week we touch on a Star Wars film, a flop of a family flick and a documentary series plus a bonus suggestion!
SEE IT – SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY
Full disclosure, it’s not great. It’s fine. Worth seeing, but not the type of movie you HAVE to see right away. Do yourself a favor and bring a non-Star Wars fan. Those are going to be the people who enjoy this story of how Han Solo becomes Han Solo – smuggler, scoundrel, scruffy headed nerf herder. You meet Han as he attempts to escape his humble upbringing as a young thief. From there, you see him pilot his way through epic space battles, daring escapes and delivering some great one liners. The bright spot here, which is a pun because the first 25 minutes of this film is very poorly lit, is Danny Glover walking into the role made famous by Billy Dee Williams and an action packed Chewbacca.
STREAM IT – The Toys that Made Us / Steve Martin and Martin Short – An Evening You Will Soon Forget.
I am also pushing ”
Steve Martin and Martin Short: An Evening You Will Forget For the Rest of Your Life” – These guys know comedy. A live stage show featuring two friends who sing, act and make you laugh? Yes please! On Netflix!
SKIP IT – SHOW DOGS
It’s bad. Enough said.
