Every week IT2 with Amy Iler and JJ Gordon tells you what to SEE in theaters, what to STREAM online and what to SKIP altogether. This week, we feature a great comedy with strong female performances, a mini series that is part Downton Abbey and part Law Order plus a forgettable thriller.
SEE IT:
“Book Club” – playing in theaters everywhere. Four leading ladies in one movie makes for some great chemistry and even better comedy. A stellar cast includes Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen. These lifelong friends decide their book club will read ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ and their personal love lives see some spark. Funny and close to home, ‘Book Club’ is a great ladies night flick.
STREAM IT:
“Picnic at Hanging Rock” – based off of the best selling novel as well as the 1975 film of the same name, this is not just a costume period drama. Equal parts Downton Abbey and Law & Order. Four young women go missing during a school picnic on Valentine’s Day 1900. Thrilling is just one of the great words of praise for this min-series. Exclusive to Amazon Prime Video.
SKIP IT:
“Breaking In” is the latest in forgettable action flicks. A reverse plot line of the Jodei Foster film “Panic Room” – a mother is, you guessed it, breaking IN to a secure home to save her children. Meh acting. Meh suspense. If you are going to see it, bring a friend to nudge you awake if case you start snoring.
