HAWLEY, Minn. (KFGO) – U.S. Senator Tina Smith visited Apple Tree Dental in Hawley Thursday morning.
Senator Smith toured the clinic’s construction site and talked about the expansion of the facility.
Apple Tree Dental provides dental care for people with disabilities and people with lower incomes.
“Our patients and staff are so appreciative of being able to gain additional resources, have equipment that is functioning well, and have the space to accommodate those patients who have disabilities, needs, and access issues.” Said Amie-Jo Leshovsky, Apple Tree Dental Hawley Center Director. “This remodel is allowing us to go from a nine operatory clinic to a 14 operatory clinic.”

Senator Smith secured nearly three-point-seven million dollars in federal funding for the project.
The money will help Apple Tree remodel and expand its Hawley clinic.
The expansion will allow more people in the area to get dental care closer to home.
“I think anybody who comes through this clinic would be so impressed by the high quality care and the incredible professionalism of the folks that are running Apple Tree clinic here in Hawley, it’s really great to see.” Said U.S. Senator Tina Smith.
Apple Tree says many people who use Medical Assistance have a hard time finding dentists who accept their insurance.
The expansion is expected to increase the clinic’s ability to serve those patients in Hawley and throughout the region.
