MANDAN, N.D. – Mandan police have released the name of a 36-year-old man who died after fighting officers following a traffic stop over the weekend.
The man is identified as John Michael Prudente Jr. of Mandan. An autopsy was being conducted Monday morning.
Police say Prudente drove away as two officers were talking to him after a traffic stop in Mandan on Saturday evening. After he pulled into a driveway, police say Prudente began fighting with the officers and was handcuffed. Police say he became limp and unresponsive, and died at a hospital.
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation continues to investigate.
