FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – Strong winds have done heavy damage across eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, the maximum wind speed in Fargo-Moorhead Labor Day evening was 71 miles an hour.
Winds blew the roof off of a building on the 2300 block of Main Ave and knocked out power to more than 22,500 Xcel Energy customers. The outages knocked out some stoplights in North Fargo. If you come across a stoplight that is not functioning correctly, treat it like a four-way-stop.
The City of Fargo is advising people to stay off the roads during the cleanup effort.
