FARGO (KFGO) – North Dakota’s Republican U.S. Senators are strongly opposed to the impeachment inquiry that’s under way in the House against President Trump.
Sen. Kevin Cramer tells KFGO News that the inquiry being led by House Democrats will “tear the country apart.”
“It is a blatantly partisan impeachment process. This so-called whistleblower, so far unnamed, seems to have no firsthand knowledge of what it is they’re claiming. There are just way too many questions to proceed in this way” according to Cramer. “I think it’s just a great tragedy for the country.”
Sen. John Hoeven says he thinks Congress should be working on other issues including, trade, health care and veterans’ needs.
“I believe that there’s not grounds there for impeachment and we should focus on getting the work done that serves the American people” Hoeven said.
“Democrats have been talking about impeaching this president since the election day and trying to piece together reasons to do it, coming up short every time” according to Cramer. “I just think that to fast-track an impeachment proceeding before Christmas just to do it is a great distraction.”
