BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – If you’re cited for running a stop sign or failing to yield in North Dakota, it’s a $20 fine. But that could double. Republican Representative Terry Jones of New Town said the $20 fine is too low and the violations are a growing concern.
The Judiciary Committee initially considered increasing the fine to $100 but decided that was too expensive and decided to it was appropriate to recommend a $40 fine.
The bill passed 56-36 and now goes to the Senate for consideration.
