Bemidji, MN (KFGO) – A 44-year-old Bemidji man will likely faces charges in connection to a double homicide in Beltrami County.
Darren Stebe is currently in the Beltrami County jail for a probation violation.
Stebe is expected to be arraigned on charges relating to causing the death of 39-year-old Adam Thorpe of Maple Grove and 41-year-old Jason McDonough, last known address of Superior, WI.
Last week, the remains of two people were discovered in a burn pit at a residence located in Eckles Township, northwest of Bemidji.
The remains were sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office. One set of remains has been identified as belonging to Thorpe. Further testing is needed to confirm the identity of the other remains but they are believed to be those of McDonough.
The investigation started when a relative of Thrope contacted the sheriff’s office to report him missing.
