FARGO (KFGO) – The mother of a young girl who was sexually assaulted by two men, including the girl’s father, says at the time, she never suspected her daughter was in danger.
Lindsey Sholl of Fargo says Dustin Kewley was believed to be a wonderful father and she never knew what had happened. In an interview with KFGO News, Sholl said that while she was at work one day in May, 2017, Kewley and the other man took the baby to a Moorhead hotel, where they molested her.
“They knew that she couldn’t scream for help” Sholl said. “She couldn’t get up and run away. She wasn’t even walking at that point. They knew that. They took advantage of that. That’s what broke my heart to no end.”
The 36-year-old Kewley was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison. 43-year-old Bryan Hogle of Las Vegas was sentenced to 45 years. The men were charged with Conspiracy to Transport a Minor, Transportation of a Minor, Distribution of Materials Containing Child Pornography, and Possession of Materials Containing Child Pornography.
“I thought he was the most wonderful, doting father” according to Sholl. “I would have never suspected anything.”
Federal prosecutors say law enforcement began to work on the case after Kewley began communicating with an undercover officer in Washington, D.C. They say Kewley and Hogle took steps to conceal their crime such as deleting their communications and bathing the child.
