FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) — Fargo city staff will start a discussion on the future of Newman Outdoor Field.
The land is owned by the state and leased to the city. The field is owned by the city and used by the Redhawks and NDSU. Improvements are needed at the nearly 30 year old facility including ADA projects for accessibility.
City Administrator Michael Redlinger says the facility’s management team and city leaders have had great conversations about the field, but it’s time to renew those conversations and focus on the future.
“[That’s] about a new operating model, talk about a capital improvement plan, talk about ADA improvements and the other maintenance activities that have really been deferred for too long at the facility. So that we’re making sure we’re putting this facility in the best position possible for success in the future,” said Michael Redlinger, Fargo City Administrator.
The city commission has also agreed to begin talks about the Fargo-Moorhead Science Museum possibly being built at the former Mid America Steel Site downtown.
The city bought the site in 2016 which still needs to be remediated.
