CASSELTON, N.D. (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of the man who died in a crash that happened west of Casselton around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday.
75-year-old Rolf Aufforth, from Bowbells, N.D., was killed when the car he was driving hit a semi that had jack knifed and was blocking both eastbound lanes of I-94.
The car became wedged under the semi’s trailer. 72-year-old Vickie Aufforth, also from Bowbells, had to be extracted from the car. She was taken to Sanford in Fargo by ambulance with serious injuries.
The semi-driver was not hurt.
It was snowing and I-94 was icy when the crash happened.
