DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (KFGO) – SkyWest Airlines, which provides daily jet flights between Devils Lake and Denver, informed city officials late Wednesday afternoon that the airline will be discontinuing service at Devils Lake and several other essential air service cities across its route map.
The airline says the move is being made due to pilot staffing issues. The company did not provide city officials with an exact date that flights will end. Paperwork the company says it plans to file with the federal government today includes a formal 90-day termination notice.
Senator Hoeven says his office will be petitioning the federal Department of Transportation to ensure continuing air service to Devils Lake and Jamestown without any disruptions.
Devils Lake Regional Airport Authority board chair Dennis Olson says the impending loss of commercial air service is a tough pill to swallow.
