WAHPETON, N.D. (KFGO) – A Wahpeton teacher is on administrative leave while the school district investigates the re-enactment of the George Floyd arrest and death in an elementary classroom.
Superintendent Rick Jacobson says the school district was unaware of the incident until earlier this week when the information “blew up” on social media.
Jacobson said the re-enactment could have been a “spur of the moment, somebody asked a question to try and show kids what maybe was going on.”
He said the timing of the re-enactment was not right and the way it happened in the classroom was not right. Jacobson said the school district doesn’t support or tolerate any activity that would make students uncomfortable.
Details will be released once the investigation is complete.
