FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – On a 3-2 vote, the Fargo City Commission has voted to extend the local mask mandate for another month. Governor Burgum’s statewide mandate is due to end next Monday. Fargo’s will now continue through February 18.
Despite the drop in positive cases, there are concerns. Health officials say masks are among the ways being used to control the spread of coronavirus.
Fargo resident Alexander Simon is not a believer. He addressed city commissioners before the vote. He said the city has “enslaved business owners into a deputy police force to enforce your illegal, immoral and inhumane edict” and said city leaders are playing god.
Governor Burgum has not yet indicated if the statewide mask mandate will be extended past the current deadline on January 18.
