WINNIPEG, MANITOBA (KFGO) – A fiery sight lit up the sky Wednesday night as a meteor burned up when it hit the earth’s atmosphere and visible from eastern North Dakota, Minnesota, and across two Canadian provinces.
The American Meteor Society received dozens of reports, stretching from areas north of the Twin Cities to Bemidji, Beltrami, Rochert, Hatton, Larimore, and many more reports across southern Manitoba into northwestern Ontario.
Experts say the meteor likely burned up in the atmosphere over Manitoba. Scientists say the meteors are generally traveling between 25-and-160-thousand miles-an-hour, letting off light as they burn.
