DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (KFGO) – A long-time, well-known Minnesota state trooper has died. Trooper “Dave” Bulik of Detroit Lakes died at his home.
He retired as a sergeant in 1999 after 32 years with the patrol. Bulik was a road trooper and also worked as the patrol’s public information officer for the media in Fargo-Moorhead and Minnesota’s lakes region.
Bulik was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and had been under hospice care.
Bulik, a Barnesville native, was an avid NASCAR fan. He attended several races over the years, including at the tracks in Indianapolis and Kansas City. His favorite driver was Rusty Wallace. He once met Wallace at a track when Wallace’s brothers, Kenny and Mike, escorted him through tight security to a restricted area.
Bulik was 75.
