The City of Moorhead has added additional days to their clean up week. No curbside, but you can drop off items at the transfer station free of charge.
From the City of Moorhead:
”
Free Trash Drop-Off Expanded – now through October 2
Schedule includes Saturdays September 19 and September 26
We hear you. Last week, residents were disappointed to learn that Moorhead’s Clean-Up Week will not include curbside pick-up. While the service change was made in the interest of the health of the City’s workforce and continuity of essential services, we recognize that Clean-Up Week is an important annual event for residents and the community.
During a traditional Clean-Up Week, more than 1,600 additional tons of trash is collected. The event requires all sanitation, street maintenance, sign maintenance, and forestry workers (40 full-time employees) plus 20 supplemental day laborers working together handling all types of household waste. The increased risk of COVID-19 exposure to employees could potentially impact the City’s ability to provide essential services such as sanitation, storm recovery, and street maintenance.
In response to residents’ feedback, the free drop-off period is expanded from one week to one month. Beginning now and through October 2, no tipping fees will be charged for Moorhead residents. Drop-off hours were expanded and now include Saturday options.
Expanded Free Drop-Off Hours:
- Now through September 11, Monday through Friday, 8 am – 4:15 pm
- September 14 – October 2
- Monday through Friday, 9 am – 7 pm
- Saturdays, September 19 and 26, 10 am – 5 pm
We are Moorhead Proud to see neighbors and block clubs organizing pick-up and delivery of large trash items on behalf of family and friends that cannot physically drop off items due to disability, age, or lack of an appropriate vehicle. Continuation of this good neighbor practice is appreciated and encouraged.
For more information, or to request a special pick-up in October, please contact the Sanitation Division, 218.299.5465.”
