BISMARCK (KFGO) – North Dakota has confirmed two more cases of coronavirus, believed to be the first of community transmission, giving the state a total of seven cases.
The new cases are in Morton County, the Mandan area. Governor Doug Burgum made the announcement during a Wed. afternoon media briefing in Bismarck. They are a woman in her 30s and another female in the age range of 10-19. Both are in self-isolation at home.
“They’re our first two cases of community spread,” Gov. Doug Burgum said. He added that “the patients had no travel history and no contact with other persons who had been confirmed to have COVID-19.”
Work has begun to identify and contact others who had close contact with them.
The five other cases are in Burleigh, Ward and Cass County. The earlier cases were in people who had traveled out of state, some internationally. They are in self-quarantine at home.
362 North Dakotans have been tested for the virus.
