WARROAD, MINN. (KFGO-AM) In two weeks, Mike and Connie Marvin of Warroad, Minnesota will be in the Russian city of Sochi, watching their daughter, Gigi, play as a member of the U.S. Women's Olympic Hockey team.
Marvin says while there are concerns about possible terrorism, they'll be there to watch and not worry. He says security will be tighter than ever. Marvin says they've been given "practical" advice about how to conduct themselves. That includes not wearing clothing that identifies themselves as American's. Families of the American players will be staying in two cruise ships docked in a harbor about an hour away from the Olympic Village.
Marvin says there's a huge production in Warroad as the entire community is rallying around it's two Olympian's. Warroad native and former U-N-D standout T.J. Oshie is a member of the U.S. Olympic men's hockey team.
Grand Forks natives, Jocelyne and Monique Lamoureux are also on the women's team.
