Walsh County man enters not guilty plea's to charges stemming from dog attack

Grafton, ND  (KFGO AM)  The owner of a pack of dogs that mauled a Fargo man two months ago was in court in Grafton Wednesday.

59-year old Pete Grzeskowiak pleaded not guilty to charges of obstruction and mistreating animals. His bail was set at $5,000 cash or surety bond.

Walsh County authorities say eight or nine of of his dogs attacked 19-year old Juan Munoz as he walked on a county road about a half mile from Grzeskowiak's farm near the small town of Warsaw. He suffered numerous bites and was hospitalized briefly.

The next day, as Walsh County deputies went to the farm to retrieve the animals, Grzeskowiak slit the throat of one of his dogs. At least 8 more dogs were destroyed by deputies.

The judge also set several conditions for Grzeskowiak's release. He's not allowed to have any animals, he can't have firearms and his travel is limited to Walsh and Grand Forks counties.

His next court appearance is set for November.
