WAHPETON, ND (KFGO-AM) -- Investigators say a stolen kayak played a role in a burglary last week at Wakeside Bar and Grill near Hankinson.
The complaint says 32 year-old Adam Bush of Brainerd, Minnesota took a large safe during the burglary and used a kayak stolen from a resident to float the safe across the lake to his car.
Deputies say they found tire marks on the shore that matched the tread pattern on Bush's vehicle.
They also discovered a white powder in the trunk that is believed to be fire retardant commonly found inside safes along with wet clothing and wet shoes.
Bush was working construction in the area.
