EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder is under plenty of scrutiny after just one game this season.
The third-year quarterback struggled with his accuracy Sunday during a 34-24 loss at Detroit.
Ponder tried two particularly dangerous throws in the second quarter, one that was intercepted and another that was nearly picked off. After halftime, he couldn't complete enough big ones on third downs when the Vikings needed them the most.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said Monday he felt Ponder "made some good plays'' and used the word "excited'' about one of them. But even the coach acknowledged the need for Ponder to improve headed to Arizona this weekend.
