Bottienau, N.D. (KFGO AM) Dave Boppre of Bottineau says since the story hit the news last week about the killing of his families miniature shetland pony, the calls have been pouring in, some from as far away as Wisconsin, offering sympathy and in some cases, money.
The pony was chased by someone in a pickup until it tired, then struck by the vehicle and dragged until it died.
Boppre tells KFGO News many have donated to a reward fund he's set up, aimed at finding those who dragged his beloved pet to death. He says investigators have a couple of "real positive leads." He's convinced more than one person was involved and says someone knows something about the incident and should come forward.
Boppre says the night the pony, "Bad Boy" was killed, there was a lot of traffic near his hobby farm because of a large homecoming party in the hills outside Bottineau. So far, authorities will only say the case is under investigation.
