Lawsuit alleges disappearance of sugar worth $1.3 million

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - A Moorhead company says three Florida companies are responsible for the disappearance of more than $1.3 million worth of sugar.

United Sugars Corporation is seeking $636,000 for sugar that was destroyed when a silo collapsed during a Florida windstorm.

In a federal lawsuit, United Sugars also claims that more than $700,000 worth of sugar was stolen by a former employee of the defendant's. The lawsuit does not mention what may have happened to the stolen sugar.

United Sugars is a marketing cooperative that's co-owned by American Crystal Sugar, Minn-Dak Farmers Copperative and United States Sugar Corporation.
