NDSU's Carlson, Storandt Earn Golfers of the Month in the Summit

ELMHURST, Ill.(Summit League Media Relations)-– North Dakota State’s Bill Carlson and Sarah Storandt were named The Summit League's Golfers of the Month for their performances Aug. 30 - Oct. 1. MALE GOLFER OF THE MONTH NDSU Jr. Bill Carlson has earned the Summit League Golfer of the Month award after placing in the top-five in all three tournaments during the month. At the Erv Kaiser Invitational, the Fargo native took first place with a 54-hole 214 (74-71-69), capturing his first career individual title. He also placed third at the Navy Fall Classic with a two-round 138 (68-70) and took fifth place at the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational with a 215 (68-75-72). For the month, Carlson had a 70.88 average and shot a career-low 68 twice at the Navy Fall Classic and the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational. The Bison also finished in the top-five in all three tournaments as a team. FEMALE GOLFER OF THE MONTH NDSU Jr. Sarah Storandt, from Moorhead, MN was named Summit League Golfer of the Month award after recording a pair of first-place finishes during the month. The junior won her first collegiate tournament at the Cobber Open on Sept. 6 after firing a career-low 71 to win by two strokes. She also captured the North Dakota Fall Classic with a 54-hole 225 (75-76-74), winning the title by eight shots. At the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational, held Sept. 23-24, Storandt placed second with a 232 (74-82-76) and finished in a tie for 14th place at the Chip-N Club Invitational with a 228 (78-77-73). For the month, Storandt had a 75.6 stroke average in 10 rounds with three top-10 finishes. The Bison also won two tournaments (Cobber Open, North Dakota Fall Classic) and placed second at the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational.
