MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO AM) -- The mother of a Moorhead High School student says school administrators didn't do enough to keep her daughter safe after she was assaulted at school.
Natalie Smith Carlson told the school board that she was never contacted after her daughter was attacked.
She says school leaders were negligent in how they handled the situation.
Friends say Carlson's daughter, Emma, was head-locked and shoved to the floor after standing up for a friend.
The suspect was also her friend.
Carlson says the day after the attack, Emma was forced to have a meeting with the principal and the other student, even after she made clear she did not want to face the student. The family says they want the school to change their policies, so it does not happen to another student.
The school board did not discuss the matter, but members say they'll look into it.
