Darwin, Minnesota (MNN) -- Authorities in Central Minnesota's Meeker County say tragedy was avoided Friday morning when two hunters heard calls for help from three men in semi-frozenwaters between Lake Washington and Lake Stella, south of Darwin.
Sheriff Jeff Norlin says three men from Glencoe and Hutchinson were duck hunting whentheir boat capsized. Two ended up in the water and one was able to hang onto the boat. Their calls for help were heard by 20-year-old Alex Mareness ofEagan and 19-year-old Dustin Lang of Hutchinson, who were also hunting in thearea. Mareness and Lang helped the men out of the water and retrieved whatthey could from the lake.
The men did not need medical attention, but lostnearly four-thousand dollars in belongings.
